2017 Marjico Cabernet Franc Rosé
6pk carton
$120.00
Cabernet Franc is one of the most important red grape varieties of Europe, but seldom seen in Australia as a varietal wine.
Even rarer again is seeing it made as a Rose varietal, so here we have something that is very special indeed, just 134 dozen made.
The very low residual sweetness of just 2.5 gms per litre is so low that it can be classified as “dry” wine.
The slightly later picking for Rose results in this wine having a noticeable fruitiness on the mid-palate and a fuller taste structure which is so rewarding.
The colour is quite vibrant with just a touch of crimson purple making it exciting to the eye, while the fullness of flavour is most satisfying to the taste.
As to bouquet the signature of Cabernet Franc is its floral nature akin to violets, and this carries through in the taste as well, finishing with a tingling, crisp, lively finish.
Best served at around 8°C so that the richness can be fully appreciated, so leave the wine stand after removing from the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or let stand in the glass.
Grown in Zerk’s Lyndoch vineyard in the Barossa Valley and made at our daughter Joanne’s Winewise specialist winery at Nuriootpa.
Food suggestions: smoked salmon, trout, oysters, mussels, chicken, salmon caviar on a biscuit.
If “one taste is worth a thousand words“, then the second taste is worth ten thousand!
